Thank you for your support during the Tin Cup Challenge. Your gifts elevate our programs and help us get more kids on snow.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Gary Mackenzie for his last three years of leadership as executive director. Gary has been a lifelong member of GTSSF, starting as an athlete on the race team at age 12 and then coaching in the freeride program. He fostered a positive culture around competition where, regardless of rankings, everyone’s run was celebrated with a high-five in the finishing corral, and kids were encouraged just as much by each other as they were by the coaches.
Gary brought the same contagious culture he’d fostered in the freeride program to his community building initiatives as executive director. He also worked to modernize operations by streamlining registration, race days and the Ski Swap. Tin Cup fundraising efforts grew every year under Gary’s leadership, setting the organization up to hire program coordinators for Alpine and Nordic. Now he is going back to his roots and re-joining Freeride as a coordinator this coming winter.
To ensure that the organization continues to operate smoothly, Gary plans to stay on through the hiring of a new Executive Director. We are grateful Gary shared his knowledge of the snow sports industry and organizational history, and is now supporting the club with his passion for on snow education as we transition to the next leader.
In the coming days, the board will launch a search for our next Executive Director. We are excited about the opportunity to identify a leader who will continue to inspire our athletes, engage our community, and further advance the foundation’s mission for years to come. We welcome applications from qualified community members and encourage community input throughout the search process.
